Poder PcD: EL Late de Marcelo. (PwD Power: Late Night with Marcelo)

This project seeks to bury the myths surrounding the work abilities of People with Disabilities (PwD) through a webshow in Late night show format. El Late de Marcelo features interviews to PwD that have work experience and competencies to hold a position just like people without disabilities. The show has 8 episodes and is hosted by Marcelo Figueroa, President of INCLUDIVIC. El Late de Marcelo is a project awarded to Visión Puente with support from the Kimntrum Foundation, which is produced by Fernweh Media.

The aim of this project is to safeguard the cultural heritage of the Deaf community of Concepción (Metropolitan Area) through research, exhibition and preservation in different formats and media. The project contemplates conducting an historical research of the Deaf community of Concepción and the development of a documentary book, a documentary film and a stage play, as well as an investigation report. The team is made up of members from different associations of Concepcion’s Deaf community in collaboration with the Kimntrum Foundation, the El Oráculo theater company and the Argonave film production company.

Píllala! 2.0: Un transporte inclusivo más cerca tuyo. (Catch it! 2.0: Inclusive transport nearer you)

Píllala! is a system that allows blind people to use public transport autonomously, without the use of internet nor high-end smartphones. In 2017 INCLUDIVIC was awarded funding from FONAPI for the development of a pilot with 100 buses from the Concepción Metropolitan Area. In 2018, the Kimntrum Foundation was awarded another FONAPI Project for the implementation of 300 more devices and the introduction of improvements in the App’s design and functionality. The project has been developed in collaboration with the SEREMITT (Regional Office of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications) and the public bus companies. Píllala! 2.0 is being developed by Mitseyn Technologies.

Píllanos! Encuentros sin limitaciones. (Find us! Encounters without limitations)

Píllanos! is an App that allows the free encounter among blind people using Bluetooth and, optionally, GPS, without the need of having mobile data plans or high-end smartphones. Píllanos! will be available for free on App Store and Play Store. The user will be able to add profiles from their acquaintances and once they are nearby on public space, the paring between the smartphones takes place. There is also the option of modifying their Status to “invisible” for the rest of the users, “busy”, etc. Píllanos! is a project awarded to INCLUDIVIC with support from the Kimntrum Foundation and is being developed by Mitseyn Technologies.

FONIS.

This project is in association with the Universidad Autónoma de Chile and is titled Perceptions about the medical attention of people with hearing and visual disabilities. Qualitative study on the experience of patients and primary health care staff in the center-south region of Chile that seeks to raise awareness for the first time in Chile about the barriers faced by people with visual and hearing disability on medical attention.

The project’s aim is to generate knowledge through a qualitative approach about the interaction between the primary health care professional and PwD. Additionally, on a second stage, points of agreement will be sought for the development of workshops and a recommendations guide.

It is worth noticing that the biggest strength of this project is that the team includes people with hearing and visual disabilities, as stipulated on the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities “Nothing About Us Without Us”.

Alga & Mar, Sindicato N°1 de Algueras de Coliumo. (Seaweed & Sea, Coliumo’s Nº1 Seaweed Collectors Union)

This project seeks to learn about the innovative strategy that a group of female seaweed collectors developed to add value to raw materials, and, thus, increasing the income at community level. The innovative strategy, the resource sustainability, the increase in income for the community, and the opportunity of creating jobs are analyzed. The innovation in producing seaweed-based creams generates better care for the main resource (seaweed) in order to keep the final production (creams) active, raising awareness about its survival, which leads to obtain higher income for the community and the creation of jobs for locals. This is a joint project between the Kimntrum Foundation and Coliumo’s N° 1 Seaweed Collectors Union.

10 años de INFOCAP en Concepción. (10 years of INFOCAP in Concepcion)

The aim of this Project is to evaluate INFOCAP students’ incorporation into the workforce after they graduate and to describe perceptions of INFOCAP students from the multidimensional vision of well-being. It includes a qualitative approach that comprises documentary analysis, interviews and focus groups; whereas concerning the quantitative approach, surveys will be conducted and INFOCAP’s databases will be reviewed. It also includes the development of a documentary that narrates the experience of INFOCAP’s ex-students and a report intended for publication for an audience interested in the topic as well as in the experience from the academic and institutional areas. This is the first joint Project between the Kimntrum Foundation and INFOCAP.

Mesa de Participación de Salud Trans – Servicio de Salud Talcahuano. (Participation Roundtable on Trans Health Care – Talcahuano’s Health Service)

The project seeks to evaluate the implementation of the Protocol for Medical Attention and Referral for Trans Users of Talcahuano’s Health Service, which was generated along with the Participation Roundtable on Trans Health, an experience that facilitates the access to medical attention for Trans people. It also seeks to highlight the good practices and strategies used to bring the institution closer to the community. The products include draft documents, the final report, a scientific manuscript, dissemination brochures and a book that includes the experience and informative material regarding topics of gender, health care and sexual diversity.
